Fraine, Abruzzo – a village poised for new life

We are Anja and Erik, a Danish couple with a deep love for rural Italy and a vision for sustainable living and remote work.

At Fraine Work & Leisure Hub, we're breathing new life into abandoned houses in Fraine, Abruzzo creating affordable homes for remote workers, creatives, and anyone seeking a fresh start in a welcoming community.

Working with local, state, and EU organizations, we're building a sustainable, vibrant hub where modern work-life blends with Italy's rich traditions.

Soon, we'll be launching a share-based investor program, offering a unique opportunity to be part of this journey in a meaningful way.

Our Mission

"Our mission is to breathe new life into Fraine by creating a hub where work, leisure, and community coexist in harmony. We envision a future where remote workers, people wanting to relocate and people just looking for a sustainable way of living  from around the world become part of Fraine's story – revitalising the village while enriching their own lives with culture and connection."

Our Story (Project Origin)

How it All Began: "It started with a simple visit. When Erik first visited Fraine, he found more than just a picturesque Italian village – he found a community brimming with untapped potential. Moved by the sight of empty houses and fading traditions alongside the warmth of the remaining locals, Erik imagined a new chapter for Fraine. What if those silent homes could house creative remote workers and digital nomads and people looking to relocate? What if the town's school, cafΓ©, and piazza could buzz again with new faces and ideas, intertwined with local customs? That question sparked Fraine Work & Leisure Hub – a project born from love for Abruzzo's heritage and faith in the future of work."

Why Fraine? (The Location & Culture)

About Fraine, Abruzzo: Nestled in the green hills of Abruzzo, Fraine is a hidden gem that embodies the charm of rural Italy. With a population of just a few hundred, the village offers tranquility and authentic Italian life that's hard to find elsewhere. Abruzzo is renowned for its extraordinary natural beauty – from the Adriatic coastline to the Apennine mountains of Maiella and Gran Sasso. Here you'll find many forests, historic stone churches, and a pace of life that lets you appreciate every moment.
Culturally, Fraine and its region boast rich traditions: seasonal food festivals, centuries-old architecture, and a community of locals (the Frainesi) who take pride in their heritage. This is a place where neighbors still greet each other by name and gather for celebrations in the village square. We chose Fraine not only for its beauty but because it's a place that welcomes new life. The local mayor and residents have embraced our initiative from the start, eager to see their hometown flourish and share their traditions with newcomers.

Our Values & Approach

  • Community First: We partner with Fraine's locals at every step – from planning restorations with town officials to hosting events led by villagers. The hub's success is the village's success.

  • Sustainability: We are committed to green development – restoring homes with eco-friendly materials, sourcing locally to boost the economy and reduce carbon footprint, and protecting Abruzzo's natural environment.

  • Accessibility & Affordability: Fraine Hub is built for the many. We strive to keep costs accessible, whether it's affordable rent for remote workers or realistic entry points for investors. This isn't a luxury resort; it's a thriving community anyone can be a part of.

  • Innovation with Tradition: We embrace technology (from remote work tools to renewable energy) while honoring local traditions. You might see solar panels on a 100-year-old roof – and that's the spirit of Fraine Hub, merging the old and new.

  • Our Team

Fraine Hub is led by a passionate team blending international experience and local insight. Erik Skytte Mosbaek, the founder, brings expertise in real estate and a heart for community building. On the ground in Fraine, local coordinator will also be Erik Skytte Mosbaek who liaises with residents and authorities, ensuring the project respects and benefits the community. Together, we are committed to making Fraine Hub a success story of collaboration.
